Rams News: Sean McVay Says Todd Gurley Is ‘Feeling Great’ And ‘Ready To Go’

A big topic of conversation this offseason for the Los Angeles Rams has been the health of running back Todd Gurley as he appears to be dealing with an arthritic issue in his knee that caused him to miss a couple of games last season.

Gurley did not participate in any team offseason workouts, instead just focusing on his own plan to ensure he is healthy for the start of the season. Head coach Sean McVay has emphasized on multiple occasions that the reason for that is not because his knee is giving him issues though.

According to Myles Simmons of TheRams.com, McVay recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and confirmed once again that Gurley is healthy and ready to go for the season:

“He’s good. I think he’s feeling great. One of the things about Todd is, he’s a great competitor. I think he’s earned the right to be able to have the plan we had this offseason. And I can’t wait to get him back going. And I know he’s ready to go and it’s going to be fun for the Rams this year.”

Considering Gurley has dealt with some knee issues and signed a big contract extension last offseason, it is in the Rams’ best interest to protect him and make sure he stays healthy for many years to come.

Because of that, the Rams have been able to secure a few insurance policies this offseason. Re-signing backup Malcolm Brown and drafting Darrell Henderson in the third round out of Memphis should allow them to reduce Gurley’s workload this season.

The Rams are also getting wide receiver Cooper Kupp back from injury, which will aid Gurley and quarterback Jared Goff in the passing game. So going into Training Camp, the Rams are healthy and ready to go.

Football was actually not a large topic of conversation between Kimmel and McVay in their interview as the young head coach shared some personal anecdotes and his excitement for his recent engagement. You can see his full interview on the Jimmy Kimmel Live YouTube page.
