While the reported compensation is a steep price to pay, the Rams undoubtedly have landed the best defensive player in all of football. For the Browns, they get three draft picks and a young stud in Verse to help with their rebuild.

Cleveland was looking to get a quality young player and significant draft compensation back for the fact of their franchise, and they are getting exactly that with this package.

What Myles Garrett brings to the Rams

Garrett is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year who set the single-season record with 23 sacks for the Browns last year. He is a perfect fit with the Rams, taking Verse’s spot on a defensive line that also includes Byron Young, Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske and Poona Ford.

Garrett is only one season removed from signing a record-breaking four-year, $160 million extension with the Browns, but they adjusted his deal to make it easier to trade him this offseason. The 30-year-old’s top priority is winning a Super Bowl and he will now get a chance to do so with a Rams team that has pushed all their chips to the center of the table.

L.A. previously addressed their defense by acquiring All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs and signing his longtime teammate Jaylen Watson.

With a revamped pass rush and secondary, combined with reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford returning at quarterback to lead their high-powered offense, the Rams feel they have maximized their chances of winning the Super Bowl next season.

With the big game being played at SoFi Stadium, L.A. will have an opportunity to win their second Lombardi Trophy this decade at their home field.

While losing a former Defensive Rookie of the Year is tough, adding Garrett was a no-brainer for a Rams team that is built to win now. And with all of the pieces in place, Sean McVay’s team is ready to make a run in 2026.
