The Los Angeles Rams are all-in on trying to win a Super Bowl this season, having made some major moves in order to shore up the holes on their roster that they feel ultimately cost them last season. And now with the NFL Draft coming up, general manager Les Snead and the Rams front office have the opportunity to bring in players who can help the team reach their ultimate goal.
The Rams don’t usually have early-round picks, but this year have a selection in each of the first three rounds. As for what they might do with those picks, the team could be targeting wide receiver and linebacker, according to Matt Miller of ESPN:
What we’re hearing about the Rams’ draft: The Rams don’t do top-30 visits or workouts, which makes it harder to discern a draft direction, but sources around the league have pointed at linebacker as an early-round target. With receiver seeming like an obvious pick at No. 13, linebacker is the most likely direction in Round 2, especially if Josiah Trotter (Missouri) is available.
Most draft experts are expecting the Rams to target receiver with the 13th overall pick that they acquired from the Atlanta Falcons in a draft day trade last year. There are a couple of potential options who could be available there with Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson, Ohio State’s Carnell Tate and USC’s Makai Lemon all being possibilities. The Rams don’t have much depth behind Puka Nacua and Davante Adams with the latter also being in the last year of his contract, so grabbing a receiver makes a ton of sense.
Targeting linebacker also makes a ton of sense for the Rams as they addressed their secondary during free agency with the trade for Trent McDuffie and the signing of Jaylen Watson. The pass rush is also in good hands with Jared Verse and Kobie Turner leading the way, but adding someone else alongside Nate Landman could go a long way to shoring up the defense as well.
With Snead running things, there is always the chance the Rams could swing another trade or two, but this front office has shown time and again that they can hit with their draft picks and if 2026 is more of the same, this Rams team will go into the season as the favorite to take home the Lombardi Trophy.
Sean McVay wouldn’t be surprised if Matthew Stafford plays for Rams beyond 2026
One reason the Rams are all-in on this Super Bowl push is because quarterback Matthew Stafford is nearing the end of his career. Some believe the 2026 season could be his last, but head coach Sean McVay wouldn’t be surprised if Stafford continues beyond this year.
