The 2022 NFL Draft has come and gone and despite not having a pick in the first two rounds, the Los Angeles Rams came away with eight new players that will hopefully help the organization defend its title in 2022 and beyond.
One of the players the Rams drafted was Kyren Williams, selecting the Notre Dame running back with the 164th overall pick in the fifth round.
Any time a player gets drafted it is special as their lifelong dream of being a professional football player is coming to fruition.
Being drafted by the Rams was extra special for Williams as a St. Louis native though, and he expressed some incredible emotion when he got the call from Les Snead and Sean McVay that he was coming to L.A.:
"I promise, y'all are gonna get everything from me." 💯

Growing up in St. Louis, Williams was a huge Rams fan, idolizing a fellow running back in Steven Jackson. After being drafted by the Rams, an old photo of Williams and Jackson circulated on the internet, adding to what was an already really cool moment:

How much playing time Williams will get in his rookie season remains to be seen as Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson will surely be ahead of him on the depth chart.
Williams is known to be a solid pass-blocker and pass-catcher out of the backfield though, so perhaps he can carve out some sort of role for L.A. As he said in the video, he is going to do everything he can to help this team win, which is the exact mentality you want from a rookie coming into the league for the first time.
