The Los Angeles Rams made headlines with another blockbuster trade on Monday, acquiring star linebacker Von Miller from the Denver Broncos.

The Rams are giving up 2022 second and third-round picks as a part of the deal, although the Broncos are paying almost all of Miller’s remaining salary this season before he hits free agency in the offseason.

While the Rams weren’t exactly lacking a pass rush, the addition of Miller makes them absolutely deadly up front as he joins the likes of Aaron Donald, Leonard Floyd and others.

Leaving the only organization you’ve ever known is tough though, especially when you’ve won a Super Bowl there. So it came as no surprise to hear Miller was a bit sad when he learned of the trade, via Jeff Legwold and Lindsey Thiry of ESPN:

“It’s still kind of hard to put into words. It’s still kind of raw, but thank you, thank everybody, and off to L.A.,” Miller said.

“It’s still hard — you can’t really put it into words,” Miller said. “Somebody told me once you want to make God laugh, then make plans. You’ve just got to keep going, keep taking it one day at a time. I’ve got a beautiful baby boy, had a lot of beautiful years here, lot of great memories, lot of great teammates, lot of great coaches, lot of great fans.”

Miller also expressed excitement to be playing alongside Donald on the Rams though:

“Great team — I’ve been a huge fan of Aaron Donald for a long time. They got a great defense … I’m excited, always been a great teammate and I’m going to continue to do that,” Miller said, adding that he hopes to play on Sunday night when the Rams host the Tennessee Titans.

Miller is in the back half of his career but has still been productive this season, recording 4.5 sacks in seven games. Playing alongside Donald should only help him get more one-on-one looks though, which didn’t happen in Denver where he was the focal point of that defense for opposing teams.

It remains to be seen if this trade will work out in the end, but one thing that is for sure is the Rams are going for it to win a Super Bowl this year and now have all the pieces in place to make it happen.
