The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of work to do before they’re considered a true Super Bowl contender. But they made sure to lock down one of their biggest building blocks.
According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapaport, the Cowboys and LT Tyron Smith have agreed to a new long-term contract extension:

Drafted in 2011, Smith has quickly become one of the best left tackles in all of football and now he will be paid like it.
When added to what he has remaining on his rookie contract, Smith will be owed $110 million through 2023.
Smith has missed only one game in his three NFL seasons and was rewarded for his outstanding play with his first trip to the Pro Bowl last season. Arguably the most promising thing about Smith is that he is only 24 years old.
In recent years, the offensive line has been an issue for the Cowboys. Drafting Smith was the first step towards solving that issue and the Cowboys made the right choice. Now that they have the anchor of their offensive line, the Cowboys aren’t letting him go.
