Tre’Davious White Explains Why Rams Were Good Fit For Him In Free Agency

The Los Angeles Rams showed the NFL that the team isn’t very far from competing again after making a surprising postseason appearance in 2023.

The Rams finished the regular season with a 10-7 record and nearly upset the Detroit Lions in the Wild Card Round. Offensively, Los Angeles was able to hang with Detroit but the defensive side of the field gave up crucial plays that ended up costing them the game.

The secondary was manned by Ahkello Witherspoon and a host of young players like Derion Kendrick and Cobie Durant. However, the Rams made sure to add some more veterans, namely Tre’Davious White who signed with the team in free agency on a one-year deal.

White explained that he chose to sign in Los Angeles because he believes in the fit and enjoyed meeting the brass, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com

“I felt like it was a good fit,” White said. “We hit it off, it was very authentic, which is what I was looking for, being a guy that had been in the league for a while. Great staff, young group, a group of guys that’s willing to work, so I’m looking forward to it.”

White is currently in the middle of rehabbing from a torn Achilles and revealed that Los Angeles’ experience in dealing with the injury influenced his decision:

“Very transparent, just very authentic, the plan that they have in place,” White said. “I’m a guy that’s very strategic (with) my approach of how I would want my rehab to go, being that I’ve had an ACL before and I know how rehab can go. So I was doing my homework. This team has rehab guys that have been very successful with the Achilles before.”

While it hasn’t been reported when White is expected back on the field, it sounds like there’s an understanding on both sides that he’ll play when doctors clear him. When White was healthy, he was a shutdown cornerback who was arguably the best at his position so the Rams may have gotten a steal in free agency if he’s able to return anywhere close to form.

Rams sniffing around quarterbacks ahead of 2024 NFL Draft

Matthew Stafford showed he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league when healthy, but as he gets older L.A. will need to start thinking about a succession plan. With that in mind, the Rams have reportedly been sniffing around quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
