The NFL season is just two weeks away and teams are starting to make their final cuts before the season begins. The season will begin on Thursday September 4 when the defending champion Seattle Seahawks take on the Green Bay Packers.
But before the season gets under way, the Seahawks will face some bad news.
According to ESPN.com and multiple sources, the Seahawks and head coach Pete Carroll have been fined by the NFL for violating the NFL’s no-contact rules.
Carroll’s fine was at least $100,000 and the Seahawks were docked over $200,000 while the team will lose at least two minicamp practices next season because it had excessive contact between players during a June 18 practice, per sources.
The collective bargaining agreement that was agreed upon in 2011 prohibits physical contact between players during the off-season.
The Seahawks had been fined an undisclosed amount in 2012 by Goodell for a similar violation under Carroll’s supervision and lost their final two organized team activities practices.
