It did not take long for running back Jake Funk to find a new home after being released by the Los Angeles Rams. Funk became expendable after the Rams signed running back Malcolm Brown, choosing to release the former Maryland standout.

Though he primarily played on special teams, Funk has amassed quite a following thanks to dating social media celebrity Hannah Ann Sluss, who appeared on the hit TV show The Bachelor. But now Funk’s career will take him far from the bright lights of Los Angeles.

According to Ian Rapaport of NFL Network, Funk has decided to join the New Orleans Saints on a practice squad deal:

Funk has been used primarily as a special teams player covering punts and kickoffs. The 2021 seventh-round pick of the Rams has logged just two carries in his career while also returning four kickoffs for 88 yards.

The Saints were in need of some running back depth after losing both Latavius Murray and Tony Jones Jr. in recent weeks. In fact, Funk isn’t the only back they brought in as they also signed Jordan Howard as well. Funk will have to work extremely hard to climb the depth chart in New Orleans, but that is nothing new to the 24-year-old.

Funk suffered torn ACLs in back-to-back seasons in college at Maryland, but did everything he could to fight back to get on the field and was able to do just that, leading the Big Ten in yards per carry in his final collegiate season.

Regardless of where his career goes from here, Funk was still able to get himself a Super Bowl ring during his time in L.A. with the Rams.
