With looming questions regarding the secondary, the Los Angeles Rams have decided to make a few changes before their Week 3 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According Myles Simmons of Rams, Los Angeles (1-1) decided to waive four-year veteran cornerback Steve Williams and promoted defensive back Isaiah Johnson:

L.A. signed Johnson, a safety, to their practice squad after he had been cut by the Lions in the reduction to their 53-man roster.

Los Angeles signed Williams prior to the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers as they were dealing with a number of injuries to the secondary. However, with cornerback E.J. Gaines returning from injury to reclaim his spot opposite of Trumaine Johnson, that has seemingly left Williams as the odd-man out.
Meanwhile, the Rams promoted Johnson from their practice squad after signing him earlier this month after he was waived by the Detroit Lions. The Rams currently lack the depth at safety that they have at the cornerback spot which may have played a part in his promotion, as well as his contributions on special teams.
