The wide receiver position was a big focus for the Los Angeles Rams this offseason as they signed future Hall of Famer Davante Adams and additionally brought back Tutu Atwell on a one-year contract.

The former second-round pick out of Louisville is coming off a career year that saw him catch 42 passes for 562 yards in 17 games (five starts).

Atwell showed real progress after a disappointing start to his career and now is expected to have a larger role this season following the departures of Cooper Kupp and Demarcus Robinson in free agency.

As he prepares to be the Rams’ No. 3 wide receiver, Atwell recently got in a workout with Baltimore Ravens players Lamar Jackson, Zay Flowers and Malik Cunningham in their native South Florida, via Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Banner:

Jackson and Flowers are two of the best players at their respective positions, so Atwell was likely able to learn a lot from them as he attempts to stay in shape before Rams training camp begins later this month.

Atwell adds a different element to the Rams offense with his speed, so it will be interesting to see how much of an impact he has in 2025.

With Adams, Atwell and Puka Nacua, the Rams have a trio that complements each other well and should give Matthew Stafford plenty of options to throw to.

Sean McVay explains why Rams re-signed Tutu Atwell

The Rams wasted no time re-signed Tutu Atwell at the start of the offseason and head coach Sean McVay explained why that was a priority for the organization.

“I think when you look at his body of work, when he’s been able to play – especially in some of the times that he was playing when Cooper was on IR – there was a lot of production,” McVay said.

“And if you project that over the course of 17 games, you just watch what he was able to do. He’s matured as a young man. I love the person, getting to know him, and I think that he’s only getting better. He’s 24 years old. I thought he really improved his route detail. For a smaller guy, he’s got a good catch radius.”
