Matthew Stafford had a strong close to the 2023 season after leading the Los Angeles Rams to the Wild Card Round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs.
Stafford managed to stay healthy during the regular season, only missing one game due to injury. With Stafford under center, the Rams’ offense hummed as he looked more like the quarterback that led Los Angeles to a win in Super Bowl LVI.
In 15 games, Stafford threw for 3,965 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, though most of his production came in the second half of the year. Despite losing to the Detroit Lions in the Wild Card, there is optimism that Los Angeles can get back to the postseason if Stafford can stay upright during the 2024 season.
Considered one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league, Stafford can make every throw on the field in any situation. Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud revealed that he loves to watch Stafford play and even took some inspiration from him as a passer, via Million Dollaz Worth of Game:

Stroud’s respect for Stafford is apparent because in the video, he starts off saying that the Rams quarterback is arguably in the same tier as Tom Brady before walking back his comments. However, Stroud goes on to say that the only other signal callers in the league he watches are Patrick Mahomes and Stafford and even reveals that any no-look passes he’s thrown came from watching the latter’s tape.
Near the end of the minute-long clip, Stroud even goes as far to say that Stafford would have more Super Bowl rings if he had the same opportunity as someone like former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Throughout his career, Stafford was left out of the conversation for best quarterback in the league because his Lions teams weren’t great, but now that he’s with the Rams he’s finally get the respect he deserves.

During the offseason, Matthew Stafford acknowledged that he would like more guaranteed money on his deal and the organization has been adamant that they’re committed to him going forward. Head coach Sean McVay has openly talked about his love for working with Stafford and admitted that the latter can be his starting quarterback for as long as he wants to play.
