The Los Angeles Rams have one of the most talented offensive lines in the NFL, with starting left guard Steve Avila among the standouts.
The Rams selected Avila out of TCU in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft and he has gone on to establish himself as a key part of the team’s future.
The 25-year-old has started in 27 games across his first two NFL seasons, including 10 in 2024. He missed seven games after undergoing midseason surgery to repair a sprained MCL in his knee.
Avila has returned to his home in Texas now that the 2024 season is complete, where he surprised his mother with a brand new car. The kind gesture brought Avila’s mother to tears, which was captured on video.

Avila, like many players, never forget their roots and try to pay back those who supported them along their journey to the NFL.
Avila has a bright future ahead of him and should once again be a key part of the Rams’ offensive line next year. He is currently slotted in as the team’s starter at left guard, but also has experience at center, making him a valuable piece to the puzzle.
Sean McVay wants to see more ‘versatility’ in Rams offense during 2025 season
The Rams offense struggled at times during the 2025 season, which can be attributed some to the slew of injuries they dealt with.
While they improved as the year went on, head coach Sean McVay expressed a desire to see more versatility from the unit in 2025.
“I think the biggest thing is there would be a little bit more versatility,” McVay said. “The easy answer is to complain about the injuries that we had that threw off the continuity and while that might be true, you can’t allow that to inhibit us the way that it did. That’s nobody’s responsibility but my own. I think more fully functional. I think even our teaching progressions for the totality of the group. How do you utilize the offseason and how are you making yourself more versatile from a personnel perspective or from a run variety perspective? Those are the things that I’m excited to be able to dive into.
“I was talking to [former Buccaneers Offensive Coordinator] Liam Coen the other day. One of the coolest things that I think is reflected about what a great job he did was you’ve got a background and then when you watch them evolve with [Buccaneers RB] Bucky Irving and the way they ran the football and some of the variety and personnel groupings, I thought that was a cool reflection of maybe we think we’re going to do that and then what you evolved into if you’re able to understand that the best coaches adjust to their players. That’s what we’ve to do a good job of as it moves forward from what it looks like from our offensive line and from the surrounding parts with our backs. I could go on and on about the variety of things that I’m excited about attacking to hopefully avoid some of the pitfalls that we had throughout the year to ultimately lead to more consistent production and play regardless of whatever our injury situation is.”
