One of the biggest free agents left on the market is Odell Beckham Jr., who continues to rehab after tearing his ACL in Super Bowl LVI.

The Los Angeles Rams would go on to win even without Beckham available after halftime and since then the two sides have kept in contact on a possible deal. The wideout’s injury makes contract negotiations difficult as he won’t be ready until later in the year, giving the Rams pause on how much money and how many years they’d want to commit to him.

However, Los Angeles has not been shy about its desire to have Beckham back in the fold and head coach Sean McVay reinforced those feelings when he sent a message to Beckham on air during training camp, via Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network:

It only took a couple of weeks for Beckham to look like his old self with the Rams, especially after inheriting a larger role in the offense after Robert Woods went down with his own ACL injury. In eight regular season games, Beckham recorded a solid 27 receptions for 305 yards and five touchdowns. However, his production took a leap in the postseason when he amassed 21 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

Beckham became a reliable target for Matthew Stafford, particularly on crucial downs late in games. His blend of route running, speed, and sure hands made him a perfect fit for McVay’s offense and it would be a no-brainer to bring him back if the opportunity is there.

As of now, a deal doesn’t seem imminent but things can always change as the Rams continue to evaluate the roster during training camp and preseason. Hopefully Beckham is back with L.A. and can help them in their Super Bowl defense.
