With OTAs underway for the Los Angeles Rams, the team’s rookies are now getting their first chance to show what they can do with some live action drills. The team selected six players overall in the 2025 NFL Draft: tight end Terrance Ferguson, linebacker Josaiah Stewart, running back Jarquez Hunter, defensive tackle Ty Hamilton, linebacker Chris Paul Jr. and wide receiver Konata Mumpfield.

Of course, there is a lot on the plate of these rookies as they are looking to establish themselves and figure out their role on the team. But for many, it is also their first time away from home and their families and that can be very difficult on players as well.

But the Rams did a beautiful gesture as they got their families to send some touching, heartfelt messages to all the rookies as they begin their journey in Los Angeles:

This is something that isn’t talked about much, but for some players who grew up in one place and perhaps stayed close to home in college and have always had family around, these OTAs and training camps are the first time they are out on their own in a completely new environment with no one around who they really know.

The Rams getting these family messages to the rookies was beautiful and obviously emotional for many of the players as they struggled to hold back tears. These are the people who raised them and pushed them to the dreams that they are achieving now and to hear how proud they are is just something unexplainable.

The journey is just beginning for these players and hopefully they will be able to contribute to the Rams’ success in both the immediate and long-term future. But for the time being they will continue to put in all the work in the offseason to be ready for when the season begins.

Rams’ Matthew Stafford excited about Terrance Ferguson

The Rams traded out of the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft but took Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson with their top pick in the second round at 46th overall. And quarterback Matthew Stafford is already excited with what he’s seen and how he can contribute to this team.

“Obviously, I was a fan of his during the season last year in college when I saw him running around there at Oregon doing some really nice stuff. Excited for him,” Stafford said about the rookie. “Again, it’s all a development at this stage. We’re just trying to figure out who we’re going to be as a team. Everybody is trying to figure out how they can get better as a player, and he’s no different, but excited to have him.”
