The Los Angeles Rams will be hosting a reunion of sorts in Week 7 when the Detroit Lions come to pay their former quarterback Matthew Stafford a visit at SoFi Stadium.

There is no question that each team is in different phases of their pursuit of a championship following the blockbuster deal this offseason. The Rams emerged as Super Bowl favorites while the Lions finally find themselves in a full-fledged rebuild after parting ways with their franchise quarterback.

Even if L.A. is already pegged as the early favorite to win, their showdown this season will surely garner some attention. The reveal for ‘Madden 22’ opted to go with an interesting take on how it will shake out.

Among the notable aspects of the new trailer they put out was Stafford getting picked off by cornerback Jeff Okudah to the dismay of Rams head coach Sean McVay.

Although the prospect of any quarterback throwing an interception is never too far-fetched, a supposed outburst from McVay certainly would is. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if such a prediction ever comes to fruition.

Fortunately, Rams fans have good reason to be optimistic about Stafford putting up big numbers versus his former team. Not only is he surrounded by the best supporting cast of his career, but the Lions defense is also still a work in progress following a rough 2020 campaign.

While Detroit was anxious for Okudah’s arrival to revamp the secondary last year, the former No. 3 overall pick struggled to find his footing due to injuries and a poor overall defense. However, there are now high hopes that the changes this offseason will help him get back on track.

Whether or not Okudah is able to fit the billing in the 2021 NFL season, there is no question that a potential pick-off of Stafford would give Lions fans something to cheer about.
