Rams Video: Kevin Demoff Reads Mean Tweets About New Logo, Responds To Feedback

Amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic happening around the world, professional sports has been put on hold, leaving fans scrounging for news and entertainment.

For Los Angeles Rams fans, they had plenty to talk about after the franchise recently unveiled their new logos and colors via social media. The response was disappointing to say the least as they were not happy with the primary logo featuring “LA” with a ram’s horn and believed the alternate ones were underwhelming.

Although the team did manage to get the colors right — going back to the retro royal blue and yellow — there was still much to be desired. It did not take long for people to create a petition to urge the Rams organization to create a new logo and that was fueled further by Rams legend Eric Dickerson agreeing that the logo needed an overhaul.

On the brightside, Los Angeles was able to raise over $2.3 million for United Way of LA and LA Regional Food Bank during their telethon. Rams COO Kevin Demoff promised to read mean tweets about the logo if over $2 million was raised and he held up his end of the bargain, via his official Twitter:

Rams fans, thanks to you we raised over $2.3m for ⁦@LAUnitedWay⁩ & ⁦@LAFoodBank⁩ during our ⁦@ABC7⁩ telethon. The deal was you raise $2m, I would read Mean Tweets about the logo. So here you go and thanks for helping Angelenos in need when it is needed the most! pic.twitter.com/HB6OTPzuRN

Demoff followed up the reading by admitting it was difficult to see so much negative attention but still appreciated the fans’ input:

While it isn’t always the easiest to hear, we value the commentary you have provided on the logo & colors. We are excited about the future of our team, our brand & our stadium, but recognize we can always get better through feedback and engagement and appreciate your passion.

As of right now, it is unclear whether a change is coming, but for now it is safe to assume that these will be the new design materials that the Rams will open SoFi Stadium with.

There is still some optimism, though, about the new uniforms as those have yet to be revealed. The throwback blue and yellow uniforms the Rams wore during the 2019 NFL season were wildly popular, so at least Los Angeles had a model to work from that should work for the fanbase.

Off the field stuff aside, there is still the major question as to whether or not we will see the 2020 NFL season even played as the COVID-19 situation continues to escalate here in the United States. Other professional sports leagues are scrambling for solutions and with no end in sight it is fair to assume that the football regular season is in serious jeopardy of being delayed or cancelled outright.
