Wide receiver Davante Adams was a crucial piece of the Los Angeles Rams offense in 2025, leading the NFL with 14 receiving touchdowns while totaling 60 receptions for 789 yards in 14 games. Now entering the final year of his contract with the Rams, his future with the team could be in question.
Someone who might be keeping an eye on Adams in hopes of his team possibly acquiring him is Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. While picking teams for the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, Burrow picked Adams and while doing so called the receiver someone he’s always wanted to play with, via FOX Sports:

Adams has been arguably the best receiver of his generation with six consecutive Pro Bowl appearances from 2017-2022 and the last three of those seasons also seeing him named a First Team All-Pro. As such, it makes sense that Burrow has imagined throwing him the ball as just about every quarterback has likely done the same.
Last season, Adams showed he still has something left in the tank and can contribute to a playoff team as he fit in perfectly with the Rams next to Puka Nacua. But Adams is 33 years old and closer to the end of his career so it wouldn’t be completely out of line for the Rams to look at potentially replacing Adams with a younger player.
On the other hand, Burrow hasn’t exactly been happy with Cincinnati missing the playoffs the last couple of years and the Rams will eventually have to look for Matthew Stafford’s successor. There have been rumors that it one day could be Burrow as the Rams are known to make big swings, but right now, Stafford is still playing at a high level as the reigning MVP so the organization is not yet looking to find its next franchise quarterback.
Did Rams consider replacing Davante Adams with A.J. Brown?
In their quest to win a Super Bowl the Rams were always going to explore any possibility of improving their roster and that includes potentially upgrading at wide receiver.
There were some rumors floating around that the franchise looked at possibly acquiring A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles, but it sounds as if any discussions about that were exploratory and not something that developed into any serious negotiations.
