The Los Angeles Rams offense experienced a resurgence in 2023 as head coach Sean McVay retooled the system to be more run-heavy than it has been in years past.
McVay’s shift in philosophy almost came by necessity as Cooper Kupp dealt with nagging injuries over the past couple of seasons. Kupp has dealt with ankle injuries, but he also hurt his hamstring during a training camp practice that sidelined him for the first four games of the 2023 season.
Although Kupp was able to return and be effective on the field, he didn’t look quite 100 percent and ended up ceding some control of the receiving corps to Puka Nacua who broke out and established himself as a rising star in the NFL. However, the 2024 season should be difference as Kupp is fully healthy and seems intent on proving he’s still one of the elite wideouts in the league.
Aside from football, though, Kupp and his family opened up their own coffee shop and when he discussed the growing business, he likened it to the evolution of McVay’s offensve, via “Daily Grind”:
When something works, lean in.
That was the case with Sean's early offensive evolution in LA, and what we have tried to do with Dodo Coffee Co. as well. pic.twitter.com/MntDOMAEC3

McVay is infamous for layering his offense with similar formations and concepts that build on one another and as Kupp noted in the video it was a continual process of learning each play in every series of the playbook. While it might be overwhelming for some players, it sounds like Kupp enjoyed the challenge and clearly got a good grasp of what McVay wanted after his productive rookie season.
As it relates to business, Kupp noted that he wants to expand his coffee shop slowly as he and his group work out the foundation first. It sounds like he’s taking a patient approach and not wanting to overwhelm himself and his partners with this new venture.
However, knowing Kupp and how hard he works at things there’s little doubt that he’ll be successful as a business owner.
Les Snead confident Rams’ Cooper Kupp can bounce back in 2024
After missing several games the past few seasons, there are some questions as to whether or not Cooper Kupp will ever return to his normal self. Despite concerns over his age and durability, Rams general Les Snead emphasized that he believes Kupp will bounce back in 2024.
