It is no secret that the Rams have gone all in on competing for a Super Bowl this year. Their roster moves have solidified that notion. Los Angeles has been more than willing to part ways with picks in exchange for players that can make an immediate impact. They are hoping that is the case with Fowler.
Fowler has had a difficult time living up to the billing of a former first-rounder. However, it is difficult to stand out in a star-studded defense like the one Jacksonville has. It certainly did not help that his career got off to a late start after missing his rookie campaign with a torn ACL. He has since managed to register 58 tackles, 14.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, and a touchdown for the Jaguars prior to being traded.
The Rams already boast a stellar trio of interior defenders with Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh, and Michael Brockers. However, it has become clear for quite some time that they have needed help bringing more pressure on the edges. Fowler has an excellent opportunity to come in and make an immediate impact alongside such Pro Bowl-level talent.
