The Los Angeles Rams will use their preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday to help support people affected by the ongoing Hawaii wildfires.

The Rams will be selling and auctioning off custom-made “Malama Maui” shirts. Los Angeles will also be raising money through their in-game 50/50 Raffle that will support the American Red Cross relief efforts.

The coaches and players will also be doing their part to raise awareness and promote the relief efforts. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Rams coaches and players will be wearing the custom shirts during Saturday night’s game:

Anne McKeough, chief development officer for the American Red Cross, gave an official statement on their collaboration with the Rams, via TheRams.com:

“Our thoughts are with those in need after the devastating wildfires swept through Hawaii,” said Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. “We are so grateful for partners like the Los Angeles Rams as we work together to provide comfort and hope for communities in the wake of these catastrophic wildfires.”

Los Angeles Rams EVP Molly Higgins expressed her sympathy for the residents of Hawaii:

“As we are heartbroken for all impacted by the devastating wildfires in Hawaii, various departments within our organization embodying ‘We Not Me’ came together to formulate a plan to support the critical work being done by American Red Cross,” said Molly Higgins, Los Angeles Rams EVP of Community Impact and Engagement. “Hawaii welcomed us as part of their community in 2019 and our special connection continues today. We hope that these efforts and funds are able to help the recovery efforts and provide some relief to those in need.”

In addition to the Rams, the other 11 professional sports teams in Los Angeles joined together to donate $450,000 to the American Red Cross. The Rams’ commitment includes the proceeds raised through shirt sales and their raffle.

The wildfires in Hawaii have been devastating, so it’s good to see teams like Los Angeles doing their part to aid in the effort. Fans are welcomed to contribute to the American Red Cross themselves if they are interested in joining the Rams’ efforts.
