The Los Angeles Rams have been forced to take precautions this offseason amidst the current outbreak of coronavirus throughout the country and world.

The Rams once again find themselves in familiar territory having to endure a crisis that has had a direct impact on the community. Several of the players like quarterback Jared Goff and left tackle Andrew Whitworth have already started to take action of their own by partnering with the L.A. Regional Food Bank to provide two million meals to the local community during the pandemic.

There is no question that the ongoing global health crisis has caused quite a stir when it comes to gathering resources. As a result, Los Angeles is now doing what they can to help.

The Rams announced that they will be partnering with KABC to host a “Te’LA’thon” on Thursday, March 24, via the team’s official website:

“At the Los Angeles Rams, we believe it’s important to work alongside community partners such as United Way of Greater Los Angeles and the LA Regional Food Bank to provide support for our city’s most vulnerable during this time,” said Kevin Demoff, chief operating officer, Los Angeles Rams. “We’re also excited to announce our partnership with KABC, who shares our commitment to community and our mission to bring the Rams closer to fans in Los Angeles. We’re proud to kick off our partnership by rallying our community together at a time when we need it most.”

The contributions from the event will benefit the United Way of Greater Los Angeles’ Pandemic Relief Fund and LA Regional Food Bank. Their mission is to provide relief for low-income families being directly affected by the recent outbreak with essential materials like food and hygiene products.

In this case, it is safe to say that the team’s captains are leading by example. The news comes after Goff and Whitworth kickstarted things by each donating $250K as lead gifts to the virtual telethon and it will ultimately help to finance a total of 2 million meals through the LA Regional Food Bank.

The “Te’LA’thon” also represents the newfound partnership between the Rams and KABC now that the latter has become the team’s official local television partner. What better way to start this new deal than by helping out the community that they serve and helps to support them when there is not a crisis going on.

The event will run from 4 a.m.-6:30 p.m. PST on March 24. Those interested in donating can do so by calling in at (213) 263-0211, visit the official page at www.unitedforla.org/pandemicrelief, or simply text “UnitedforLA” to 1-844-701-5181.
