After a surprisingly good season in 2023, the Los Angeles Rams came into this offseason with cap space to work with to improve even more going into 2024.
A big focus has been the defensive side of the ball as the Rams have a very young and inexperienced unit in 2023. Couple that with Aaron Donald deciding to retire, and L.A. had work to do to improve their defense.
The secondary, in particular, has been a focus for Les Snead, Sean McVay and the Rams’ front office. Their big splash came in the former of a reunion with cornerback Darious Williams, who the team brought back on a three-year contract. They then made up for the departure of Jordan Fuller by signing safety Kamren Curl to a two-year deal.
The Rams don’t appear to be done adding to the backside of their defense though as according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, they are signing former Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White to a one-year contract worth up to $10 million:

White is a former two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, establishing himself as one of the best corners in the league after being drafted in the first round in 2017 out of LSU.
The 29-year-old has dealt with some significant injuries in the last few years though, tearing his ACL in 2021 and then his Achilles in 2023. Rams team doctor Neal ElAttrache performed White’s surgery though so must have given L.A. the OK that he will make a full recovery:

With the way things are looking, the Rams will have two veterans start at cornerback with Williams and White with Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick being their primary backups with the former also often playing in the slot.
The safety position then has Curl, Quentin Lake and Russ Yeast, so the Rams should go into the 2024 season with a much improved secondary group, and that’s not even accounting for them potentially adding even more in the upcoming draft.

The White signing comes on the heels of him recently visiting the Rams, so everything must have went well for both sides for the one-year deal to come to fruition.
