The Los Angeles Rams announced that they have agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension with star wide receiver Robert Woods to keep him in the organization long-term.

The deal does not come as a surprise after both he and head coach Sean McVay recently said that it was a priority and close to happening.

Les Snead and the Rams have been busy over the last week, not only inking Woods to an extension but also fellow wide receiver Cooper Kupp and cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Along with Jared Goff and Aaron Donald, L.A. now has its core of star players locked up long-term.

According to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN, Woods’ deal is for $68 million with $32 million of it guaranteed:

Woods, who is an L.A. native after attending Serra High School in Gardena and USA, originally signed a five-year deal with the Rams before the 2017 season. He has outperformed that contract greatly, finishing with at least 1,100 receiving yards each of the last two seasons.

He has also gotten off to a good start in 2020, going for six receptions and 105 yards in the Rams’ Week 1 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Over the last few years, Woods has not only developed into one of the most underrated receivers in the league, but he has also become one of the vocal leaders in the Rams’ locker room. His work in the local community can also not be understated, making him the perfect player to give a long-term extension to.

At just 28 years of age, Woods should have plenty more strong seasons ahead of him, and it will now come in a Rams uniform.
