The Los Angeles Rams announced they have signed veteran tight end Nick Muse to the practice squad. The practice squad spot opened up when the team signed long snapper Jake McQuaid to the active roster, waiving previous long snapper Alex Ward to do so.
Muse was originally a seventh-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons in Minnesota, appearing in 16 contests with just one catch in his career. Muse would be signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad last January, which allowed him to earn a Super Bowl ring last season.
After being released by the Eagles prior to the start of this season, Muse signed with the Arizona Cardinals on their practice squad before now joining the Rams.
Muse joins a pretty crowded tight end room with the Rams carrying four on their active roster in Tyler Higbee, Davis Allen, Colby Parkinson and rookie second-round pick Terrance Ferguson. The team also has undrafted rookie tight end Mark Redman on the practice squad as well.
The team has upped its tight end usage in recent weeks though, using a lot of 13 personnel, so adding someone like Muse gives them more depth if needed.
Muse started his collegiate career at William & Mary before transferring to the University of South Carolina where he totaled 67 receptions for 805 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with the Gamecocks.
Puka Nacua & Davante Adams believe Rams’ Matthew Stafford should be in MVP conversation
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is on an unbelievable run this season. The future Hall of Famer has thrown 20 touchdowns without a single interception over the last six games and in the Rams’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers, became just the ninth QB in NFL history to throw 400 touchdowns in his career, reaching that mark with his TD pass to one of those tight ends in Davis Allen.
His outstanding performance so far this season has seemingly vaulted him into the conversation for NFL MVP alongside the likes of New England Patriots QB Drake Maye, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. And the players catching the ball from Stafford certainly feel he belongs in that discussion.
Wide receiver Davante Adams feels that Stafford has been playing at an MVP level all season while Puka Nacua said Stafford is on a ‘heater’ and he just listens to whatever the quarterback has to say when he talks.
For his part, Stafford is aware of the conversations surrounding his potential MVP case, but insists that he is far more focused on helping the Rams continue to win games.
