The Los Angeles Rams announced on Wednesday that they have signed former Eastern Washington linebacker Ketner Kupp as an undrafted free agent. He is the younger brother of Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

Kupp becomes the 23rd undrafted free agent that the Rams have signed since the draft after they announced 22 others on Tuesday. To make room for him on the roster, recently-signed wide receiver Justin Sumpter was waived with a non-football injury designation.

In four seasons at Eastern Washington, Kupp had 267 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He played in a career-high 15 games in his season season, setting career-highs in both tackles (115) and tackles for loss (5.5). He served as a co-captain for the Eagles in his final season.

Kupp tried out for the San Francisco 49ers after the draft but was unable to come to a contract agreement, which led him to the Rams.

Linebacker is a position of need for Los Angeles after the departure of Mark Barron in the offseason so Kupp could have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot during offseason workouts, training camp and the preseason.

With the Rams starting workouts this week, he will quickly get the chance to learn from some of the team’s veterans on the defensive side of the ball like Cory Littleton, Clay Matthews, Aaron Donald and Eric Weddle.
