Rams Sign Darrell Henderson To Active Roster From Practice Squad

The Los Angeles Rams have signed running back Darrell Henderson to the active roster from the practice squad after joining the team for their last two games. Henderson was brought on to the practice squad as part of a flurry of running back moves with Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers suffering injured reserve injuries in the same game.

Henderson had spent the last four seasons with the Rams, but was not brought back to begin the 2023 campaign. But in a time of need L.A. turned to a familiar face and saw immediate results. In his first game back against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Henderson rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown. He had 85 all-purpose yards against the Dallas Cowboys last week.

Now, he joins the active roster as the Rams attempt to break their two-game losing streak against the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. PT. Henderson, Royce Freeman and Myles Gaskin make up the top of the depth chart for the Rams until Williams and Rivers are ready to return.

Both are not eligible to return to the field until at least Week 12, as they are required to miss four games but not including the team’s Week 10 bye. The Rams (3-5) certainly need their starters back in the lineup, but Henderson is a serviceable stopgap option who knows the offense as well as anyone in the National Football League.

The Rams play the Packers in Week 9 and the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11 before Rivers and Williams become eligible to return. If the Rams can sneak away with two wins in those games, they’ll be back at .500 for the home stretch of the regular season, putting them in postseason contention.

Rams sign Dresser Winn to practice squad

The Los Angeles Rams announced that they have signed quarterback Dresser Winn to their practice squad.

Aside from a bad loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Matthew Stafford also suffered a UCL sprain in his right thumb and was unable to finish the game. Stafford appeared to initially hurt his thumb after hitting a player’s helmet, and then later aggravated it after catching a pass on a two-point conversion.

Los Angeles is bringing in Dresser on the practice squad as a third quarterback.

Winn spent training camp with the Rams, so bringing him back makes sense as he’s already familiar with the system. When Stafford hurt his thumb, Brett Rypien stepped in to replace him and he would presumably be the starter if Stafford is unable to go for Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers.

Stafford’s health has been a question mark since he arrived back in 2021, and it appears that the team is bracing for the possibility he’ll have to miss this week and potentially beyond.
