The Los Angeles Rams announced the signings of tight end Roger Carter, defensive back T.J. Carter, defensive end T.J. Carter, defensive back Richard LeCounte, tackle Max Pircher, wide receiver Jaquarii Roberson, wide receiver Jerreth Sterns, defensive end Brayden Thomas and defensive end Zach VanValkenburg to reserve/future contracts.

A reserve/future contract allows teams to sign players who were not on the active roster at the end of the previous season to a contract for the following campaign. These players will participate in the offseason program and then report to training camp, where they will compete for a roster spot.

Roger signed with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia State and appeared in one game. The defensive back T.J. also joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of TCU and played in one game, while the other T.J. signed with L.A. after a four-year career at Kentucky and appeared in two games.

LeCounte was originally selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and played one game with them this season after appearing in nine contests during his rookie campaign. He signed with the Rams practice squad late in the regular season.

Pircher spent time on the Rams practice squad as an international player, while Roberson originally signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest and split the 2022 season as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills and Rams practice squads.

Sterns originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky before joining the Rams practice squad late in the regular season. Thomas joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State and played in one game.

VanValkenburg originally signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa before joining the Rams practice squad.

Teams are only allowed to carry 53 players on their active roster during the regular season, but they expand to 90 in the offseason.

Rams head coach Sean McVay didn’t ‘want to run away from adversity’

At the conclusion of the regular season, Rams head coach Sean McVay initially was noncommittal on whether he would return next year. However, the 36-year-old confirmed last week that he will return to the team for his seventh season.

McVay said he didn’t want to retire on a bad note and is returning to the Rams to help them get back on track.
