With the first day of the 2017 NFL Draft officially in the books, the time has come for the Los Angeles Rams to make their first selection. The team’s needs on both sides of the ball and a multitude of first round talent still left on the board makes their first pick of the draft an intriguing one.
The Rams threw a curveball by trading back with the Buffalo Bills to acquire another third round pick. With the 44th overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Rams selected Gerald Everett out of the University of South Alabama:

Los Angeles adding another playmaker certainly comes as no surprise when one considers the fact they were the worst passing team in the league last season. Everett’s versatile skill set could have an immediate impact in head coach Sean McVay’s offense.
Everett is a 6’3 former basketball player who is looking to add his name to a line of successful tight ends to make the transition. A Juco transfer, Everett recorded 90 catches for 1,292 yards and 12 touchdowns during his two-year stint at Alabama.
His 38-inch vertical and 33-inch arms are reminiscent of his days as a basketball player. With his ability to create separation, it will make him capable working all three levels of the field.
Los Angeles will look to fill the remaining holes in their personnel with multiple picks in the third and fourth rounds.
