Jayden Daniels quickly established himself as one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the NFL during his rookie season with the Washington Commanders.
The former No. 2 overall pick out of LSU led the Commanders to their first playoff win since 2005 and were one victory away from reaching the Super Bowl.
Daniels displayed his dual-threat ability as he threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns while adding 891 yards and six scores on the ground.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay believes Daniels will be one of the best quarterbacks in the league for years to come, via John Keim of ESPN.com:
“The way he was playing the position, it sure looks sustainable,” McVay said. “He has that swagger, that confidence, that enjoyment with competing … the smile, the ability to be totally immersed in the moment. That’s one of the things I loved about watching him. I don’t see that changing. … He’s going to be really scary for a long time.”
Daniels earned a trip to the Pro Bowl, was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year and finished seventh in MVP voting after his historic rookie season with the Commanders.
The 24-year-old will now look to replicate that success in his second year, which can be difficult for some quarterbacks as teams make adjustments to defend them.
Given the poise he showed as a rookie, it would not be surprising if Daniels is just as good — if not better — in his sophomore season.
The Commanders did their part to ensure Daniels keeps improving as they added a pair of Pro Bowls in Deebo Samuel Sr. and Laremy Tunsil to the offense.
Rams’ Puka Nacua focused on improving short-area quickness
Puka Nacua has solidified himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL since his rookie season and now wants to improve his short-area quickness.
The Pro Bowl wide receiver noted that he always tries to create separation from the defender to make Matthew Stafford’s job easier when throwing in his direction.
Nacua has already shown flashes of greatness and if he can consistently win at the line next season, there is no telling how effective he can be in the Rams offense.
