The Los Angeles Rams coaching staff has undergone significant changes this offseason, particularly on the offensive side as former New York Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur was named Liam Coen’s successor after he went back to the University of Kentucky.

Former Buffalo Bills assistant offensive line coach Ryan Wendell also replaced Kevin Carberry as the Rams’ new offensive line coach. Wendell had spent the previous four seasons assisting Aaron Kromer, who became the Bills’ offensive line coach last year after four seasons with the Rams.

When Kromer left for the Bills, the Rams retained his son, Zak, as part of the coaching staff. He served as an offensive assistant for the last six seasons and now appears to be in line for a promotion.

According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, Kromer will be the Rams’ assistant offensive line coach to Wendell going forward:

The Rams offensive line struggled mightily during the 2022 season, largely due in part to a combination of injuries and inconsistency. With the new duo of Wendell and Kromer, L.A. is hoping the group sees a vast improvement this year.

Rams’ Thomas Brown having second interviews for Buccaneers & Panthers’ OC position

Further changes could be on the horizon for the Rams’ coaching staff as assistant head coach/tight ends coach Thomas Brown is seemingly a finalist for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator position.

Brown has been part of the Rams coaching staff since 2020, when he became the running backs coach. That was a position he held for two seasons before being promoted to tight ends coach last year.

Brown additionally helped out the running backs group after Ra’Shaad Samples left the organization to coach the position at Arizona State.

If Brown doesn’t land either of the offensive coordinator openings, he will likely go back to working with the Rams’ running backs next season. L.A. has already hired a new tight ends coach in Nick Caley, formerly of the New England Patriots.
