Rams Rumors: Troy Hill Undergoing Surgery On Broken Thumb In Hopes Of Playing Against 49ers In Week 16

The Los Angeles Rams traveled to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive in the NFC Wild Card race. Unfortunately, the Rams put up one of their most disappointing performances of the season, dropping to 8-6 after a 44-21 blowout loss.

The Rams defense has played well in recent weeks but they simply had no answer for the Cowboys offense. Part of the reason for that is that they were without cornerback Troy Hill for most of the game after he suffered a thumb injury in the first half.

Hill has taken over as a starter alongside Jalen Ramsey after the team traded both Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib before the deadline.

While there is no official diagnosis on Hill’s thumb, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that he suffered a broken bone, although he is expected to undergo surgery with hopes of playing against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16:

The Rams will travel to take on the 49ers on Saturday night, so Hill will have one fewer day to rehab that thumb if he hopes to suit up for the game.

Darious Williams saw a majority of the time at cornerback after Hill went down and struggled a bit, so getting Hill back would be big for the Rams defense.

At 8-6, the Rams are not officially eliminated from postseason contention. They need to win their final two games while also getting help in the form of the Minnesota Vikings losing their last two, meaning there is no more margin for error moving forward.
