The world has basically shut down in recent weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the NFL has operated as usual with the start of free agency and the new league year.

Everyone is doing business from home though, with no word on how long it will continue. No one will be going anywhere anytime soon in the state of California, at least, as governor Gavin Newsom issued a “stay at home” order for the state’s residents on Thursday.

As far as the Los Angeles Rams go, the new order put a question mark into the construction of their new home in Inglewood, SoFi Stadium.

The stadium is expected to be ready for the 2020 stadium, although if they have to halt construction for the time being, they likely wouldn’t have enough time to complete it by the summer. Luckily though, Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk is reporting that construction should be able to continue during this time:

PFT has learned, via a source, that a revision to the language of the order may allow work to continue. Per the source, Governor Newsom’s office has changed the language to exempt construction products from the order.

That would seem to clear the way for construction on the stadium to proceed while things come to a halt in other walks of life, but there’s no official word on how things will unfold with the project.

SoFi Stadium is expected to open in July with a pair of Taylor Swift concerts. That is only if the country gets the coronavirus pandemic under control though, which seems like it will take longer than originally expected.

Regardless though, it is good to see that construction will continue so that whenever the country does open back up, the Rams’ new state-of-the-art stadium will be ready for action.
