There was some major news in the college football world last week as the Nebraska Cornhuskers announced the hiring of Matt Rhule as their new head coach beginning with the 2023 season.

Rhule most recently served as the Carolina Panthers head coach but was fired this past October after the team got off to a disappointing 1-4 start.

Rhule is already in the process of assembling his Nebraska coaching staff, as he has let go of a few assistants while bringing in others from different programs.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Los Angeles Rams offensive assistant Jake Peetz is expected to join Rhule’s staff as the quarterbacks coach:

Peetz was among the Rams’ new additions to the coaching staff this season after serving as LSU’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Peetz had previous experience working alongside head coach Sean McVay when the two were part of the then-Washington Redskins’ coaching staff.

Prior to becoming a coach, Peetz was the backup long snapper for the Cornhuskers but never appeared in a game. He also had coaching stints with Santa Barbara City College, UCLA, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Alabama and the Oakland Raiders.
