Rams News: Odell Beckham Jr. Finalizing Contract With L.A.

The Los Angeles Rams have made it clear in recent years that they are in the business of adding star power in order to achieve their goal of winning a Super Bowl.

They’ve added big-name players like Jalen Ramsey, Matthew Stafford and most recently Von Miller, although it appears they are not done yet.

Another star recently hit the open market as wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr’s relationship with the Cleveland Browns soured, leading to his eventual release.

Considering the Rams already have three really good receivers in Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Van Jefferson, many were under the impression that they wouldn’t get involved in the Beckham sweepstakes with other teams like the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints known to have interest.

That’s not how the Rams operate though, and it now appears the Beckham has decided to join them, per Adam Schefter of ESPN:

While there were some conflicting reports out there if it was a done deal or not, Miller posted a photo FaceTiming with Beckham about chasing a ring in L.A., via Greg Beacham of the Associated Press:

LeBron James, who is a close friend of Beckham’s, also confirmed he is headed to L.A.:

Shortly after the Rams confirmed that it’s a done deal, ending all speculation.

No one was really sure what Beckham would prioritize when picking a new team, whether it would be winning, target share or money.

By choosing the Rams, he’s clearly prioritizing winning as it remains to be seen how many targets he will be getting with all the other talented pass-catchers on the team. The Rams also don’t have much cap space to work with, so it is likely a minimum deal for the remainder of the season.

Regardless though, the Rams now have arguably the most talented group of receivers in the league, giving Matthew Stafford plenty of options to go to.

Even though Beckham hasn’t been the player he once was in a while, perhaps coming to L.A. and joining a Super Bowl contender will give him the rejuvenation he needs to get back to being one of the best receivers in the league.
