Rams Rumors: Los Angeles Perceived As ‘Hard To Beat Out’ To Acquire Ndamukong Suh

The Los Angeles Rams have been one of the most active teams over the first several weeks of the offseason. A significant bulk of that effort has been geared toward revamping their defense to put forth a more formidable unit on that side of the ball in the 2018 NFL season.

Among those possible moves is the potential addition of All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamunkong Suh. Although the New York Jets have suddenly jumped into the mix with a lucrative contract offer, the Rams are still perceived as being the top landing spot for the 31-year-old, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Los Angeles has presumably stepped out ahead as the frontrunners to land Suh given what they have to offer him. The front office has constructed an intriguing roster on the defense with the addition of All-Pro cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters along while securing promising safety Lamarcus Joyner and cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman under contract for next season.

Beyond that, there is the opportunity to form a highly productive and imposing duo with reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year in defensive tackle Aaron Donald. They are viewed as being two of the top players in the league at their position given their ability to disrupt offenses up the middle. The addition of Suh would significantly improve their front seven while bettering their chances of being legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Up to this point in his career, Suh has yet to take the field for a team with realistic playoff aspirations. Meanwhile, the Jets present him a chance to secure another lucrative contract that could once again make him one of the top paid players at his position. This could potentially give him pause in the decision-making process as this major offer could be quite difficult to turn down.

All of this has given Suh plenty to think about in what could be a difficult choice for where he will spend the next chapter of his career.
