This offseason could be a historic one as far as quarterback movement in the NFL goes, and the Los Angeles Rams could be among the teams getting in on the action.
Rams general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay have both been noncommital about Jared Goff’s future with the Rams, signaling they could look to make a change this offseason.
With four years remaining on the big extension Goff signed a couple of years ago, trading him will certainly be no easy task. One potential fit though is the Detroit Lions as their quarterback, Matthew Stafford, has also asked out and will be traded at some point.
It appears that the Rams are among the teams that Stafford would be interested in playing for, via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN:
Sources: Matthew Stafford considers the Rams a viable contender in his trade market with the Lions. While it’s unclear what the Rams can do with Jared Goff’s long-term deal on the books, they’ve explored the possibilities with Stafford.

The Lions recently hired Rams director of scouting Brad Holmes to be their new general manager, so there is some familiarity between the two front offices which could help in working out a deal.
It remains to be seen if the Lions would be interested in getting Goff back along with some draft picks, or if they would prefer to draft a quarterback of their choosing with the seventh overall pick.
It would be almost impossible for the Rams to get a deal done without unloading Goff’s contract though, as both quarterbacks have a lot of remaining money left on their respective deals as L.A. can’t afford to have both on their books.
Stafford currently has two years remaining on the five-year, $133 million extension he signed with Detroit, and at 33 years of age certainly has some good football left in him.
There is still a lot of offseason left so it is unlikely that a deal is on the horizon. It definitely will be something to monitor though as the Rams look to upgrade at the quarterback position.
