As has been the case nearly every offseason, the Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff will undergo a bit of a makeover this offseason.
After winning the Super Bowl, basically every team wanted to get their hands on one of Sean McVay’s assistants. The big losses were offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, who is the new head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, and secondary coach and passing game coordinator Ejiro Evero, who is the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos.
Even though he’s still celebrating the Super Bowl win, McVay has some work to do filling out his staff as O’Connell and Evero both took some more Rams assistants with them as well.
The biggest position to fill is offensive coordinator, and it appears McVay has already targeted his new right-hand man. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Rams are bringing back a pair of familiar faces in Liam Coen and Greg Olson to add to the staff:

Coen was the favorite to land the offensive coordinator job all along as the 36-year-old spent three seasons on the Rams’ staff as assistant wide receivers coach and assistant quarterbacks coach. He left last year and spent a year at the college level as Kentucky’s offensive coordinator before now returning to work under McVay once again.
Olson is another coach who had worked under McVay as the Rams’ quarterbacks coach in 2017. Since then, he spent the last four seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s unclear what his role will be with the Rams this time around, although there’s no doubt he will be helping out on the offensive side of the ball.
Thomas Brown was also in the running for the Rams’ offensive coordinator job after spending 2021 as their running backs coach and assistant head coach. He is known to be one of the better assistants in the league, so keeping him and adding responsibilities was a smart decision by McVay.
While the Rams still have some more vacancies to fill, it seems that McVay is already in the process of filling them as L.A. looks to repeat as champions next season.
