There’s only a couple days until the Los Angeles Rams officially begin their season on Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers. But that hasn’t stopped them from making moves to bolster their roster.

According to Ian Rapaport of NFL Network the Rams are expected to sign former San Diego Chargers CB Steve Williams:

The Rams front four is widely regarded as the league’s best but the secondary has a few more questions and the Rams are definitely hoping that Williams can help with that. The team does have some potential at cornerback.

Trumaine Johnson is coming off a good year with the team and will be the top cornerback. Coty Sensabaugh was listed as the team’s other starter on the outside while third-year man Lamarcus Joyner will be the slot corner as was profiled on the final episode of ‘Hard Knocks.’

Williams was recently released by the Chargers after two seasons in San Diego. Last year he appeared in 13 games totaling 19 tackles, two interceptions, five passes defensed, and two forced fumbles. At the very least he should be able to provide depth and with a front four like the Rams have, the job of a cornerback becomes much easier.
