Following their thrilling Super Bowl LVI victory, the Los Angeles Rams are going to need to restock their coaching ranks.

The Rams are losing secondary coach and passing game coordinator Ejiro Evero to the Denver Broncos and offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell to the Minnesota Vikings. Head coach Sean McVay is used to losing personnel and now faces the challenge of having to replace two key coaches on the sidelines.

As far as his offensive coordinator opening goes, McVay has gone outside of the organization to fill the vacancy in the past and it appears he may be looking to go that route again as the Rams have reportedly requested an interview with LSU passing game coordinator Cortez Hankton, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

Hankton has spent the past decade in college football, serving as the wide receivers coach for Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, and Georgia. Hankton was hired last month by LSU but could have an opportunity to bring his talents to the NFL instead.

McVay has a knack for spotting talent, so Hankton certainly makes for an intriguing hire should they choose him as their new offensive coordinator. Hankton also has some experience in the league as a receiver, recording 34 receptions for 310 yards and two touchdowns in 46 appearances.

Aside from Hankton, Kentucky offensive coordinator and former Rams assistant quarterbacks coach Liam Coen is also in the mix to replace O’Connell. Hankton and Coen are the current names on the shortlist for the opening, but it will be interesting to see if anyone else is linked to L.A.
