It has been reported for a while now that the Los Angeles Rams are expected to sign head coach Jeff Fisher, and GM Les Snead, to a contract extension. However, weeks later, there still has been no announcement of an official agreement.
Most still believe that the deal is in place and will get done soon, but crazier things have happened of course.
If the Rams do decide to go in a different direction at head coach, they could have a lot of potential candidates to replace Fisher. According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, agents are pushing their clients towards the Rams as they view this job as a ‘gold mine’:
“Numerous agents are trying to push clients towards the Rams because of the high-profile nature of the job and believe that Los Angeles will be a gold mine for a successful coach. If the Rams ever move on from (Jeff) Fisher, they will have a long list of interested candidates to choose from.”
This is simply hypothetical as most do still expect an extension for Fisher to be announced at some point soon, but it is interesting to see how the Rams job is viewed now that the team is in Los Angeles.
As Cole said, this is now a high-profile job considering the team is in the second-biggest media market in America. Even with the Rams’ slow start in their return to Los Angeles, it doesn’t change the fact that they have far more eyes on them now. Furthermore, the team has doubled in value since the move.
Everyone will soon find out if Fisher will indeed be around even longer, but it would be interesting to see what names would pop up should the job become open.
In his first four seasons with the Rams, Fisher compiled a record of 27-36-1, having never won more than seven games.
