The Los Angeles Rams have done a bulk of their offseason work already, but knowing how the organization operates, they likely are not done.
The Rams will add some depth in the upcoming draft and are still working on extensions with Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp.
Even with that though, they may still have enough money left over to bring in one of the remaining big-name free agents.
As their roster currently stands, it would make sense to make an addition in the secondary after losing Darious Williams in free agency. They have already been linked to safety Tyrann Mathieu, although it may make more sense to add a corner instead.
If they want to go that route then the best free agent available is Stephon Gilmore, who played with the Carolina Panthers last season. According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, the Rams have been in contact with Gilmore this offseason:
Similarly, the Rams have been connected to two of the higher-profile players still available in free agency: safety Tyrann Mathieu (who was most recently with Kansas City), and cornerback Stephon Gilmore (most recently in Carolina).
The Rams have been in contact with Gilmore this offseason, a source said. If signed, Gilmore would occupy the outside cornerback role opposite Jalen Ramsey. If and when Ramsey moves into the “Star” position, either Robert Rochell or David Long Jr. can play the other outside spot (I also expect the Rams to draft a cornerback).
If the Rams want to sign Gilmore though, they will have some competition as he visited with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, per Field Yates of ESPN:
An interesting one: the Colts hosted CB Stephon Gilmore on a visit today.

The Rams signing Gilmore would mean they came together and agreed on a creative contract, as the Rams have done with Bobby Wagner and so many others over the years.
Even if it’s not Gilmore though, the Rams still being in on so many big-name players shows that another big move could be on the way at any minute.
