The Los Angeles Rams’ roster has undergone a ton of turnover this offseason due to the team’s lack of cap space from previous extensions they handed out to key players the last few years.
One of the biggest question marks was the kicker position as long-time kicker Greg Zuerlein hit free agency at the beginning of the offseason and was expected to earn a lucrative contract for his position.
While the Rams expressed interest in bringing Zuerlein back, they did not have much cap space to work with and had more important needs to fill on the free-agent market, mainly on the defensive side of the ball.
Because of that, Zuerlein’s tenure with the Rams has come to an end as he will be signing a three-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network:

Zuerlein going to Dallas will mark a reunion with special teams coach John Fassel as he left the Rams to join the Cowboys’ staff this offseason as well.
The Rams originally drafted Zuerlein in the sixth round in 2012 and he has developed into one of the best kickers in football. He most notably drilled a 57-yarder in overtime against the New Orleans Saints in 2019 to send the Rams to the Super Bowl.
Last season was not a great one for Zuerlein though as he only made 72.7 percent of his field goals, which was the worst mark of his career. He missed a game-winner against the Seattle Seahawks on the road that ultimately cost the Rams a chance to make the postseason.
Regardless though, the good memories far outweigh the bad ones with Zuerlein. The Rams now have the tough task of finding a replacement, whether it be on the free-agent market or through the draft.
