The Los Angeles Rams recently added offensive line coach and run game coordinator Aaron Kromer to the extensive list of coaches they parted ways with following the 2020 NFL season.
Kromer has played an integral role in head coach Sean McVay’s staff since their arrival prior to the 2017 campaign. His efforts led to him doubling as both offensive line coach and running game coordinator the following season.
Kromer’s departure once again left the Rams with a notable void to fill on the offensive side of the ball. Fortunately, it appears they have wasted no time finding his replacement.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, L.A. is set to bring in Stanford run game coordinator Kevin Carberry as their new offensive line coach:
The #Rams are expected to hire Stanford run game coordinator Kevin Carberry as offensive line coach, source said. Carberry worked with Sean McVay in Washington. He replaces Aaron Kromer.

Carberry’s connection to the Rams started back in 2016 when he was an offensive line coach for the Washington Redskins, where McVay was also part of the staff. Although their time together was short, it appears the latter kept him in mind once the vacancy opened up on his staff.
Carberry has spent the last three seasons at Stanford filling in the same duties Kromer did as both an o-line coach and running game coordinator. Prior to his stint with McVay in Washington, he served as an offensive assistant with the Dallas Cowboys from 2014-2015.
The Rams’ offensive line enjoyed quite a resurgence up front throughout the course of the 2020 campaign. They managed to establish a newfound emphasis in the ground game by generating a push up front while also keeping quarterback Jared Goff relatively clean.
Their offensive line protection will once again be a major priority now that L.A. is welcoming veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford to town. While toughness has never been an issue for Stafford, it is in each side’s best interest to keep him a healthy as possible if they hope to meet their Super Bowl expectations next year.
