Matthew Stafford is set to return for his fifth season as the Los Angeles Rams starting quarterback after the sides were able to agree on a restructured contract.

Stafford has continued to play at a high level but is 37 years old and undoubtedly nearing the end of his contract. With that in mind, the Rams have been open to drafting Stafford’s potential successor this month.

L.A. reportedly spent a considerable amount of time with one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft, Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss. He is projected to go late in the first round, which is right where the Rams are expected to pick at No. 26.

According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, the Rams are also planning to meet with Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe:

Milroe spent the last two seasons as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback and threw for 5,678 yards, 39 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 26 games. He struggled at times as a passer but is arguably the best rushing quarterback in this year’s class. He ran for 1,257 yards and added 32 touchdowns on the ground over the last two seasons.

Milroe is expected to be selected somewhere in the first three rounds. Rams general manager Les Snead previously said the team is unlikely to use their first-round pick on a quarterback, but didn’t completely rule out the possibility.

In addition to meeting with Dart and Milroe, the Rams had several members of their front office attend Quinn Ewers’ pro day at Texas. The top two quarterback prospects, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, have not been linked to L.A. at this point.

L.A. doesn’t necessarily need to draft a quarterback this year, but they won’t hesitate to address the position if the right situation unfolds.
