Davante Adams’ first year with the Los Angeles Rams could not be going any better as he helped the team clinch a playoff berth.
Adams has been the answer to the Rams’ red zone woes as he’s unstoppable one-on-one near the goal line. Matthew Stafford always looks Adams’ way first when Los Angeles is that far on the field and the star wideout makes good on his quarterback’s trust with scores.
Unfortunately, Adams suffered a hamstring injury in the win against the Detroit Lions while running deep route downfield. He stayed on the ground in pain for several moments before walking off on his own power.
Adams had been nursing the hamstring injury for a while now and is now considered week-to-week, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:
#Rams WR Davante Adams, who left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, is considered week-to-week, sources say.
That almost certainly knock him out for TNF, but it is simply an aggravation of what he was previously dealing with, not a new injury. pic.twitter.com/W1RT91jhkv

The Rams take on the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, so the team will need to be prepared without him. Offensive coordinator Mike LeFleur emphasized how much Adams means to the offense and that the rest of the group will have to soldier on in his absence, via Wyatt Miller of TheRams.com:
“(If wide receiver Davante Adams can’t play) we’ll probably just go out there with 10 guys and just see what happens. No, I’m just kidding. You guys have seen how valuable he’s been for us in so many different ways. Even over the last few weeks, just the amount of attention he gets in situational football, whether it be the red zone, third down… He’s a Hall of Famer for a reason and he’s still playing at that high clip and we’re just hoping for the best.”
It’s impossible to make up Adams’ impact with one player, so multiple players will need to step up. Head coach Sean McVay has already leaned into his new 13 personnel identity, but perhaps he has other tricks up his sleeve.
Whatever the case may be, Los Angeles has a tall task ahead of them as the road to the No. 1 seed in the NFC will likely be decided come Thursday.
Davante Adams will retire whenever Matthew Stafford does
Matthew Stafford is currently enjoying the best year of his career, though his future remains unsettled. Davante Adams has enjoyed his time with Stafford and joked that he would retire whenever the quarterback does.
