After some question marks, the Los Angeles Rams coaching staff is finally beginning to take shape for the 2032 season.
Sean McVay’s tenure with the Rams was looking dicey as he took some time to decide on if he would return for the 2023 campaign, so the organization breathed a sigh of relief when he said he would indeed come back. With McVay back at the helm, the attention turned toward the vacant offensive coordinator position that was eventually filled by Mike LaFleur who parted ways with the New York Jets earlier in the offseason.
On the defensive side of the field, there was uncertainty at defensive coordinator as Raheem Morris was a finalist for the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job. After over a month of meetings and interviews, the Colts eventually went with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, opening a path for Morris to return to the Rams in the same capacity.
With Morris back in tow, the franchise then looked to fill out the defensive staff and according to Field Yates of ESPN they’re brought back a familiar face in Aubrey Pleasant:

Pleasant returns to LA after serving as the Lions DB coach/passing game coordinator and then a consultant for the Packers for the second half of 2022.

Pleasant served as the cornerbacks coach for Los Angeles between 2017-2020 before he was hired away by the Detroit Lions for the 2021 season. Plesant spent a season and a half with the Lions before being let go in October. He didn’t stay home for too long, though, as he served as a consultant for the Green Bay Packers to end the season.
Although Morris and Pleasant just missed each other back in 2020, the two now get an opportunity to work together to help fortify a secondary that was inconsistent this past season. Bringing back Pleasant should be a boost to that unit, especially considering stars like Jalen Ramsey have had the chance to work with him previously.
It’s a worthwhile addition for Los Angeles who is looking to revamp each part of their operation after an underwhelming year that ended with them missing the playoffs. It was the worst season for a reigning Super Bowl champion, so expect the team to do everything in its power to avoid another disappointing season.
