Rams Rumors: American Airlines Partnering For Naming Rights To Plaza At New Inglewood Stadium

As the Los Angeles Rams’ new stadium in Inglewood gets close to being completed, the Rams’ future home is still without a true name.

While the stadium does not yet have a name, it appears the plaza outside of it now does.

According to Arash Markazi of the L.A. Times, the Rams and American Airlines are announcing a partnership for the naming rights to the plaza:

The Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park doesn’t have a naming rights deal yet but its plaza, formerly known as Champions Plaza, will be unveiled as American Airlines Plaza on Tuesday.

American Airlines becomes the first “founding partner” of what is being called the L.A. Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park. American Airlines became the official airline partner of the Rams three years ago.

American Airlines was named the official airline partner of the Rams when they moved to Los Angeles three years ago, and now they are the first partner of the new stadium. Despite that though, they did not secure naming rights to the stadium itself:

American Airlines Plaza is a 2.5-acre space that will be used for different activities on event days and be open to the public otherwise.

There will be a separate naming rights announcement for the 70,000-seat stadium and the adjacent 6,000-seat performance venue.

The stadium is not yet complete, but the Rams are set to open it in 2020 after playing one more season at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

In addition to the Rams, the Los Angeles Chargers will also be playing their home games there so they are involved in the partnership with American Airlines as well.

The state-of-the-art stadium is expected to be the new sports hub on the country as it will play host to Super Bowl LVI in 2022, the College Football National Championship in 2023, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2028 Summer Olympics as well as many other big events in the near future.
