In an unexpected turn of events, Super Bowl LVI will feature for the first time a matchup between two No. 4 seeds in the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.

The Rams’ path to the Super Bowl featured battles between a pair of NFC West rivals in the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers as well as the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Meanwhile, the Bengals had to fend off a frisky Las Vegas Raiders squad, the AFC’s No. 1 seeded Tennessee Titans and the formidable Kansas City Chiefs.

A matchup between the Bengals and Rams will surely be exciting given the explosive nature of both offenses, and after Cincinnati announced their uniforms of choice, Los Angeles made sure to respond with their own Super Bowl threads:

Because of the alternating designation of the home and away teams, the Rams are technically the road team in Super Bowl LVI despite playing in their own stadium. As such, the Bengals were given the opportunity to choose their uniforms first and opted to go with their black jersey and white pants pairing:

Throughout the playoffs, Los Angeles went with their blue and yellow combination but Cincinnati’s choice prevented them from doing so again. The Rams were left to choose between their bone gray or modern throwbacks, opting to go with the latter.

While L.A. is only 1-2 on the season in the modern throwbacks, the bright side is 14 out of the last 17 teams to win the Super Bowl wore white. In what is sure to be a thrilling and dramatic game, the Rams will certainly pop up on the field in their brighter and more lively uniform choice.
