For those waiting for the Los Angeles Rams to come crashing back down to Earth after beginning the season 2-1, they will have to wait just a little bit longer. The Rams were able to continue their impressive winning ways with a victory over a team many predicted to go to the Super Bowl this year in the Arizona Cardinals.
The Rams find themselves at 3-1 after grinding out a couple of close back-to-back victories on the road. As a result, quarterback Case Keenum feels that Los Angeles has done a much better job compared to years past according to Bob Baum of the Associated Press:
“Good teams win the close games,” Keenum said. “It says we are fighters. We have done it on the road two times in a row. We are not going to dwell on where we are. We are looking ahead. We are looking at where we are going.”
Keenum had his best game of the season so far, going 18-of-30 for 266 yards and two touchdowns. Both of which went to receiver Brian Quick, who has responded nicely so far after being called out by head coach Jeff Fisher during the preseason.
Although there are still a number of issues with the running game, as well as the defensive secondary, this is a team that prides itself on making big plays when they need them. The defense forced five takeaways, including two interceptions in the final minutes to help seal the victory. However, it was the special teams and Tavon Austin’s 47-yard return that set up the go-ahead touchdown with 2:41 left in the game.
Los Angeles returns home to square off against a Buffalo Bills team that just shut out the New England Patriots at home for the first time since 1993.
